About the Position: Serves as a Gastroenterology Technician and provides direct assistance to the staff and gastroenterology physician during invasive gastrointestinal types of procedures. Prepares the patient, equipment and the procedure area to perform invasive procedures; and resets the equipment and procedure area for the next procedure. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation
What You'll Do
- →Assists the Gastroenterologist and/or the GI Surgeon in various clinical, diagnostic, therapeutic and/or emergency procedures Assists with endoscopic biopsies and polypectomies.
- →Provides patients an initial preparation checklist and provides an explanation of the procedures to minimize fears and to ensure their cooperation.
- →Selects, sets up, adjusts and operates equipment for designated procedures.
- →Moves the mobile procedure cart, equipment cart and portable monitor to the ED, ICU or OR.
- →Prepares the equipment for operation; and, assists the gastroenterology physician in the procedure with the equipment.
- →Positions and drapes the patient in accordance with clinic standard operating procedures.
- →Operates the automatic endoscope reprocessing system to disinfect equipment.
- →Disinfects equipment to prevent patient infection and cross-contamination by disassembling the scope, brushes parts and dips into a solution prior to putting into the washer.
- →Prepares reports on examinations, equipment and utilization, workload, supply status, consumption and related matters.
- →Maintains inventory according to standards.
- →Performs all setup of equipment, checks instruments/equipment for completeness and proper functioning prior to beginning procedure; and troubleshoots equipment during procedures as necessary.
