The position is in the Medicine Care Line at the Lebanon VA Medical Center in Lebanon, PA. The duties and responsibilities are carried out throughout the medical center including all clinical and other patient care areas involved with the service, and as assigned.
What You'll Do
- →Echocardiography Technicians operate diagnostic equipment to graphically record the position and motion of the heart walls or the internal structure of the heart and neighboring tissue by the echo obtained from beams of ultrasonic waves directed through the chest wall.
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Ability to scan transthoracic echocardiograms in all views with colorflow and some Doppler.
- →Ability to conduct cardiac testing to determine the severity and variety of cardiac problems, i.e., valvular dysfunction, myocardial wall kinesia, effusions, endocardial lesions, etc.
- →Knowledge of the set-up for transesophageal echocardiograms.
- →Ability to set up and adjust the ultrasound equipment to meet the conditions of the examination and the patient and to operate the equipment for more complex, but standardized procedures.
- →Ability to interact with patients explaining procedures and positioning the patient for the procedure.
- →Knowledge of standard medical terminology to interpret physician orders or instructions.
- →Ability to perform standard operator maintenance on the equipment including the ability to disassemble, clean, reassemble, and calibrate the machine.
- →In depth familiarity with the ultrasound equipment.
- →Ability to recognize and document critical findings in the log.
- →Enter progress notes in CPRS and notify appropriate individuals.
- →Ability to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
- →Knowledge of computerized ECG, Stress, Event Recorder, and Holter Monitors.
- →Knowledge of VISTA, CPRS/GUI electronic patient record systems.

- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
