This position is located in the in the APHIS, Veterinary Services, Field Operation, Logistics Center. The position involves a variety of materials handling duties, preservation, packing, repacking, storage and/or shipment and distribution of a variety of veterinary supplies, equipment and materials in support of United States agriculture.
What You'll Do
- →The duties may include, but are not limited to: Works independently in a wide range of warehousing activities, including receiving, storing, handling, and issuing supplies, materials and equipment.
- →Routes and expedites movement of parts, supplies and materials using mechanized, automated, and manual material moving equipment, devices, and systems.
- →Performs assignments covered by detailed procedures, such as unloading, visually inspecting, rotating stocks in accordance with standardized operating instructions.
- →Receives and marks incoming stock in accordance with standard operation instructions and completes forms relating to stock description, quantity, unit of issue and labeling requirements for materials.
- →Ensures the special requirements are met in the storing, monitoring, packaging, and shipping of temperature sensitive products.
- →Arranges physical storage, assembly, packing and delivery of material, using manual and/or automated stock moving equipment.
- →Uses hardcopy records or computer terminal equipment to determine stock locations and make selections by quantity and stock number, and assembles materials for supply orders and packs for delivery.
- →Selects correct storage location using hardcopy or automated material identification equipment such as bar code wands, computer terminals and laser scanners.
- →Uses hand tools such as hammers, screwdrivers, band cutters, and pliers to perform duties.
