About the Role
This Licensed Practical Nurse position is located at the Cumberland County VA Clinic in Mechanicsburg, PA. The primary purpose of this position is to perform a very wide range of patient personal care, support diagnostic services, and chart activities on a regular and continual basis on a surgical, medical, rehabilitation, psychiatric, or long-term care ward or clinic. The incumbent performs duties in such a way as to promote a sense of worth and dignity within each individual.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include but are not limited to: Checks to see that patients are present for appointments.
- →Prepares patients for treatments and examinations and positions them as required.
- →This will involve placing patient on examining table and chairs and exposing area to be observed and/or treated by the physician.
- →Observes patients for any immediate needs and gives prompt attention or seeks help as necessary.
- →This can be of an emergent nature or relate to the immediate comfort of the patient.
- →Participates in nursing in-service educational programs.
- →Takes vital signs, weights, collects specimens, and makes other pertinent observations specific to the primary care area.
- →Sets up the examination rooms by providing necessary instruments and supplies, seeing that the area and equipment are aseptically clean and in order, assuring that patient charts, x-rays, and consults are available.
- →Assists physicians by supplying needed equipment providing information such as vital signs, weights, observations, and information obtained from the patient.
- →Assures smooth clinic operations by directing the patient to appropriate areas.
- →Inventories, orders, and restocks needed linen and supplies.
- →Reports equipment in need of repair.
- →Detects and reports unsafe work conditions.
- →Assures orderliness and cleanliness of all storage and work areas.
Requirements
