The Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) delivers practical nursing care to Veterans with diverse physical and behavioral needs, consistently promoting high-quality health care and exceptional customer service. Operating under the guidance of the Nurse Manager or designee, the Nurse demonstrates full technical competence and skill at full performance level. This role ensures an environment dedicated to serving Veterans and supporting their well-being.

- →Select and sequence procedures/treatments appropriately for individual patient needs.
- →Accurately recognize, report, and document relevant patient information.
- →Perform thorough patient observation and respond to care needs, including equipment-assisted care and education.
- →Prepare and administer prescribed medications by oral, topical, subcutaneous, intramuscular, and intravenous routes.
- →Perform medical treatments according to established policies and procedures.
- →Recognize urgent and emergent patient situations and seek RN/provider assistance as needed.
- →Initiate and assist with emergency interventions per direction (e.g., code, resuscitation).
- →Understand human behavior, patient motivations, and family dynamics to provide effective care.
- →Build constructive relationships with patients and families to support communication and socialization.
- →Foster respect for patient and family privacy, dignity, and rights.
- →Consistently apply established customer service standards in all interactions.
- →Demonstrate skill in assisting with complex diagnostic tests or specialized procedures.
- →Prepare, assist, and monitor patients during diagnostic or specialized procedures.
Requirements
