About the Role

Thank you for your interest in the Licensed Practical Nurse - CARDIO-VET Network position for Specialty Care within the Truman Memorial Veterans Hospital with the primary purpose to perform assigned duties in a manner that promotes quality health care, positive customer service and the maintenance of an environment committed to serving the veterans.

  • Possesses the knowledge and skills to carry out more specialized patient care activities.
  • This knowledge base includes the use of Veteran care data to initiate active contributions to the Veteran's overall health plan.
  • Knowledgeable of program regulations and performs objectives of the nursing program.
  • Promotes and demonstrates nursing concepts in the Medical Center.
  • Works in collaboration with the Registered Nurse (RN), and or Health Care Provider (HCP).
  • Demonstrates the ability to work independently without the need for readily available supervision and communicates effectively with the Veteran, families, caregivers, professionals, and other supportive staff.
  • CARDIO VET Network Specific Duties: Provide specialized nursing support for cardiology clinics, procedures, and telehealth within the CARDIO-VET Network.
  • Assist with diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures (e.g., EKG, stress testing, device checks, echocardiogram bubble studies and vascular access).
  • Collaborate with RNs, cardiologists, and interdisciplinary teams across facilities in the network.
  • Utilize cardiovascular data to contribute to individualized care plans.
  • Schedule patients in appropriate clinics following appropriate scheduling directives and policies.
  • Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year) Selected applicants may qualify for credit toward annual leave accrual, based on prior [work experience] or military service experience.
  • Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.
