The incumbent will be located at the Veterans Affairs Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS). The incumbent reports to the Chief of Respiratory Care Services along with Clinical Director of Division of Hospital & Specialty Medicine (DHSM). The Chief of Neurology reports to the Clinical Director of the Division of Hospital & Specialty Medicine who reports to the Chief of Staff.
What You'll Do
- →Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: Independently performs routine and non-standard procedures.
- →(EEG and EP) Independently performs advanced neurodiagnostic procedures (EEG/L TM) in complex environments such as the operating room, epilepsy monitoring rooms, radiology, intensive care units and at the patient's bedside.
- →These include WADA, Electrocorticography, Motor/Speech Mapping, Carotid Endarterectomy, Thoracic Aortic Aneurysm Clipping Independently performs routine and invasive long-term monitoring Independently teaches the correct methodology of neurodiagnostic procedures, theory of operations and theory interpretation to trainees and students from affiliated programs.
- →Consistently performs high quality studies for complex and non-routine procedures in difficult and demanding environments such as the operating room, research, or intensive care environments.
- →Acts as lead technician providing training to new neurodiagnostic technicians.
- →Occasional travel may be required to train VA employees to serve as EEG technologists at other VA sites.
- →Follows established laboratory and/or hospital guidelines in completing "administrative duties" for each test performed.
- →Knowledge of JCAHO and other regulatory requirements.
- →Responsible for inventory of laboratory supplies and equipment.
- →Responsible for establishing, completing and communicating weekly assignment rotations to all other EEG MIT's in the EcOE department while ensuring that the rotations are fair and equitable to all staff members.
- →Will participate in department meetings and will communicate any pertinent information to all other EEG MIT's in the EcOE department.
- →Independently operates a variety of neurodiagnostic equipment to administer routine and specialized diagnostic treatment during procedures.
- →Conducts routine maintenance and adjustment checks on the equipment.
- →Recognizes and trouble shoot equipment failures.
