The VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System is recruiting for a Full-Time Medical Instrument Technician. The Medical Instrument Technician (Inpatient Hemodialysis) position is located in the Renal Hemodialysis Section, within Perioperative Nursing Service; at the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System.
What You'll Do
- →The Medical Instrument Technician (Inpatient Hemodialysis) duties include but are not limited to: Operation and Oversight of the Water Treatment System (Reverse Osmosis/RO System).
- →Responsible for the daily operation, monitoring, and testing of the dialysis center's water treatment system.
- →This includes ensuring the RO system is functioning within established standards, documenting performance, and identifying any issues before they impact patient safety.
- →Equipment Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and Contractor Coordination: Coordinates and interacts with equipment contractors and biomedical engineers to manage both preventive and corrective maintenance of dialysis equipment and the water treatment system.
- →This includes troubleshooting technical problems, ensuring timely repairs, and documenting all maintenance activity.
- →Quality Assurance and Water Safety Monitoring: Oversees the collection, recording, and reporting of water culture results and ensures the quality and safety of the water used in dialysis treatments.
- →Responsible for adhering to regulatory standards and promptly addressing any deviations.
- →Supply Management and Inventory Control: Selects, orders, stocks, and prepares the necessary equipment and supplies for dialysis procedures and water treatment operations.
- →Maintains an organized inventory and ensure that all critical supplies are available and up-to-date.
- →Mentorship and Team Support: Mentors and trains new technicians, shares best practices, and supports the dialysis team.
- →Serve as a key resource for technical expertise, working under the direction of the nurse manager and staff nurse to maintain high standards of patient care and operational efficiency.
