About the Role

This is a Detail Not to Exceed One Year, however, the detail may be made permanent without additional competition. These positions are in the Office of the Chief Human Capital Officer, Department of Veterans Affairs, Central Office (VACO) Human Resources Service Center (HRSC) that focuses on the establishment and transition of human capital services for VACO staff offices from the Veterans Health, Veterans Benefits, and National Cemetery Administrations.

What You'll Do

  • →Duties include, but are not limited to: Serves as team leader over a group of Recruitment and Staffing Human Resources Specialists.
  • →Responsible for assigning, monitoring, and reviewing the work performed by subordinate team members.
  • →Ensures that the organization's mission and vision are communicated to the team and integrated into the team's goals, work plans, and work products.
  • →Articulates and communicates to the team the assignment, project, problem to be solved, actionable events, milestones, and deadlines.
  • →Identifies, distributes, and balances workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level, and adjusting to accomplish the workload in accordance with established priorities to ensure timely accomplishment ofassigned team tasks.
  • →Provides advice on work methods, practices, and procedures, and assists the team and/or individual members in identifying the parameters of a viable solution.
  • →Trains or arranges for the training of team members in methods and techniques of technical skills and team building and working in teams to accomplish tasks or projects.
  • →Coaches team members in the selection of problem-solving methods and techniques, provides advice on work methods and procedures and assists team members in identifying factors needed to resolve problems.
  • →Reports to the supervisor periodically on team's work accomplishments, training needs and work processes.
  • →Coordinates the preparation, presentation, and communication of work-related information to the supervisor.
  • →Maintains reference materials, project files and relevant back-ground documents and makes available policies, procedures, and written instructions from the supervisor.
  • →Researches, learns, and applies a wide range of qualitative and/or quantitative methods to identify, analyze and improve team effectiveness, efficiency, and work products.
  • →Represents the team in dealings with thesupervisor or manager for the purpose of obtaining resources (e.g., computer hardware and software, use of overtime or compensatory time), and securing needed information or decisions from the supervisor on major work problems and issues that arise.
  • →Reports to the team on progress of team's projects and/or tasks, established milestones and ensure that all team members are aware of team goals and objectives.
