About the Role

Join the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Shared Service Center! We're looking for talented professionals to help deliver solutions that support federal agencies nationwide. As a GS-0343-14 Lead HR Specialist (Employee Benefits) you will lead a team, provide expert guidance on federal benefits, oversee retirement and insurance programs, manage HR projects, and resolve complex benefits and policy issues.

What You'll Do

  • Serves as Team Lead and subject matter expert on federal employee benefits, providing authoritative guidance on complex and sensitive HR issues.
  • Leads, coaches, and assigns work to a team; monitors performance, ensures workload balance, and facilitates training and development.
  • Oversees benefits programs including health and life insurance, retirement, and workers' compensation, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Provides retirement and separation counseling expertise, resolving complex eligibility, annuity, and benefits issues for employees and agencies.
  • Manages and leads HR projects, including planning, execution, resource coordination, and evaluation of deliverables and outcomes.
  • Conducts quality assurance reviews, audits, and data analysis to improve program effectiveness and ensure accurate benefits administration.
  • Engages in business development, stakeholder consultation, and interagency coordination to expand HR services and improve program delivery.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S.
  • Citizen or National.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • Suitable for Federal employment, determined by a background investigation.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

  • Complete the initial online assessment and USAHire Assessment, if required.
  • You will be required to report to an OPM assigned office.
  • This position is not eligible for inclusion in a bargaining unit.
