These positions are located in Grand Canyon National Park, in the Visitor and Resource Protection Division.
What You'll Do
- →Open to current Grand Canyon National Park Career or Career-Conditional Employees in the competitive service, within the local commuting area only.
- →Local commuting area definition: The geographic area that usually constitutes one area for employment purposes.
- →It includes any population center (or two or more neighboring ones) and the surrounding localities in which people live and can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily to their usual employment (5 CFR 351.203).
- →Major Duties: Lead up to 4 positions including planning, scheduling and assigning work; setting goals; identifying and providing employee and volunteer orientation and training.
- →Ensure equal opportunity for all employees and volunteers supervised; responsible for on-the-job safety; develop effective working relationships and coordinate work efforts with personnel of other organization units.
- →Serve as a front-line representative of Grand Canyon National Park.
- →Provide visitors with backcountry recreational opportunities, status of trails.
- →Process and issue Backcountry and river permits.
- →Provide public orientation of backcountry regulations, current park events resource management projects and management policies.
- →Collect cost recovery charges using an electric computer.
- →Complete shift reports, safeguards funds collected, and ensure all funds are accurately accounted for and remitted as required by NPS and DOI policy.
- →Notifies supervisor and remit personnel of discrepancies and keeps them appraised of delays and when the issue will be resolved.
- →Area Information: This position is stationed at Grand Canyon National Park at the South Rim located in Northern Arizona.
- →The South Rim is located approximately 60 miles north of Williams and 82 miles Northwest of Flagstaff at an elevation of 7,000 feet.
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship required.
- ✓Appointment subject to background investigation and favorable adjudication.
- ✓Meet Selective Service Registration Act requirement for males.
- ✓Complete the initial online assessment and USAHire Assessment, if required.
- ✓Selectee will be required to participate in the Direct Deposit Electronics Funds Transfer Program.
- ✓Any individual who is currently holding, or has held within the previous 52 weeks, a General Schedule position under non-temporary appointment in the competitive or excepted service, must meet time-in-grade requirements (must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade or equivalent in the Federal service); with few exceptions as outlined in 5 CFR 300.603(b).
- ✓Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.
- ✓You will be required to operate a government (or private) motor vehicle as part of your official duties; a valid driver's license is required.
- ✓You will be required to submit a Motor Vehicle Operator's License and Driving Record.
- ✓You must also submit (within a State sealed envelope or submitted directly by the State authorities), and at your own expense, all certified driving records from all States that disclose all valid driver's licenses, whether current or past, possessed by you.
- ✓You will be required to wear a uniform and comply with the National Park Service uniform standards.
- ✓A uniform allowance will be provided.
- ✓You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
- ✓You may be required to travel overnight away from home.
