The Office of the Assistant Secretary for Administration and Management (OASAM) provides the infrastructure and support that enables the U.S. Department of Labor to perform its mission. OASAM provides leadership and support for information technology, human resources management, procurement, business operations, safety and health, space management, civil rights, emergency management, security, budget, and performance.

- →The employee serves as a Labor Relations Specialist performing duties that include, but are not limited to, the following: Provide labor relations advice to managers, supervisors, and staff to ensure accurate interpretation and application of statutory, regulatory, and contractual Labor Relation requirements.
- →Advise management officials on sensitive or emergent issues to prevent inappropriate or reactive responses during high stakes interactions with union representatives.
- →Lead studies and evaluations to identify trends, inconsistencies, and compliance concerns and produce comprehensive findings and actionable recommendations.
- →Interpret labor management agreements, laws, and policies to provide accurate guidance and ensure consistent application across DOL organizations.
- →Prepare reports, briefings, position papers, and notices to inform leadership, respond to union inquiries, and support management initiatives.
- →Provide formal and informal training to managers, supervisors, and HR personnel to strengthen knowledge in negotiations, grievance handling, and related subjects.
- →Represent management in arbitrations, mediations, and third party proceedings to protect agency interests and ensure compliance with LR requirements.
- →Coordinate labor management relations with union representatives to resolve grievances, negotiate issues, and maintain constructive working relationships.
