The Intermediate Care Technician (ICT) Generalist is assigned to the VA Clinic Kalispell for the Montana VA Health Care System. This position serves as an advance technician for outpatient care settings such as; primary care, mental health, and specialty clinics. As an ICT Generalist the incumbent may serve in a medical center, community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC), mobile medical unit or may have virtual/remote assignments.
What You'll Do
- →DIRECT HIRE AUTHORITY: This position is being filled using Direct-Hire Authority (5 CFR 337.205) for this occupation.
- →Duties include but are not limited to the following tasks: Providing patient education within scope of care or while providing an intervention (i.e., post-procedural care, splints care and wound care).
- →Assisting with behavioral/psychiatric situations in an outpatient setting. to include crisis intervention, management of aggressive or suicidal psychiatric patients, and one-to-one observations.
- →Performs mental health screenings.
- →Following facility, national, and local pharmacy guidelines for the administration and disposal of medications/Immunizations.
- →IM, SC,Oral, Topical, Nebulized Medications.
- →If trained, may assist with related technical health care procedures as deemed competent by supervising physician/training competency.
- →Ensuring all instrumentation is set up properly for scheduled procedures (i.e., skin biopsies, pap smears, etc.).
- →Completes patient screening assessments, obtains vital signs, obtains patient health history, chief complaints, medication history, and identification of health related conditions that may impact the patient's health.
- →Completion of clinical reminders.
- →Documenting actions, interventions, and procedures in patient medical records.
- →Taking and recording vital signs.
- →Intervenes based upon patient symptoms and established protocols/standards of care.
- →Assesses patient status and keeps physician informed of any change or need for additional treatment.
