About the Role

The incumbent serves as Program Manager for major technical training projects, responsible for planning and directing all major phases of the Instructional Systems Design process, including needs analysis, course/program design and development, selection of instructional media and methods and formative/summative evaluations. Selections will be placed within AIR-941 and AIR-942.

What You'll Do

  • Typical duties and responsibilities may include the following: Incumbent is a recognized expert within the FAA and is called upon to provide leadership for highly complex and challenging activities under the minimal direction of a manager or executive.
  • Serves as training expert to develop new and innovative concepts, approaches, methodologies, techniques, and policies, or as a senior project manager or team leader for large, challenging work activities.
  • Inspires, motivates, and guides others toward goal accomplishments.
  • Develops and sustains cooperative working relationships.
  • Encourages and facilitates cooperation within the organization and with customer groups.
  • Fosters commitment, team spirit, pride, and trust.
  • Serves as a trainer for AVS courses when needed and works collaboratively with every other AVS training program manager to continuously improve the entire AVS training portfolio.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Work is reviewed typically through status reports and at project completion to ensure policy compliance and alignment with the requirements of projects and/or other work activities.

  • Foreign education must be evaluated by a private professional organization specializing in interpretation of foreign education credentials or an accredited U.S. educational institution in terms of equivalence to a degree acquired at an American college or university.
  • A copy of the evaluation results must be included, otherwise your foreign education will not be considered.
  • Degree: that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours appropriate to the work of the position to be filled.
  • The course work must have included study in at least four of the following five areas: Learning theory, psychology of learning, educational psychology: Study of learning theories as they relate to the systematic design, development, and validation of instructional material.
  • Instructional design practices: Study of the principles and techniques used in designing training programs, developing design strategy and models, and applying design methods to the improvement of instructional effectiveness.
  • Educational evaluation: Study of the techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of instructional/educational programs, including developing written and performance tests and survey instruments, and determining reliability and validity of evaluation instruments.
