This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Office of the Inspector General. As the Inspector General, you will provide executive leadership and direction to OIG activities. The Inspector General has full authority to initiate audits and investigations, determine their scope, and recommend action based on findings of the audit or investigation.
What You'll Do
- →As the Inspector General, you will: Provide overall leadership, direction, program planning and coordination of the activities and personnel of the Office of the Inspector General.
- →Plan and direct an audit program through an Assistant IG for Audits that covers all NARA administrative and program offices, functions, programs, and operations.
- →Recommend appropriate action based on audit findings, monitor corrective action, oversee the work of non-Federal auditors, and review responses to audit reports and report significant disagreements to the audit follow-up official.
- →Receive complaints and allegations about the possible existence of activities that may constitute a violation of laws or regulations, mismanagement, waste of funds, abuse of authority or substantial and specific danger to the public health and safety.
- →Screen complaints and allegations to determine if further investigation by the OIG staff is appropriate.
- →When warranted, initiate investigations or audits or refer matters to the Attorney General or management for appropriate action.
Requirements
- ✓Must complete a 1-year SES supervisory probationary period, unless previously completed.
- ✓Must complete a Questionnaire for Sensitive Positions, SF-86, for a pre-appointment full-field background investigation.
- ✓In addition, periodic re-investigation is required no later than five years after selection and at least every succeeding five years.
- ✓Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency.
- ✓If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
- ✓Go through a Personal Identity Verification (PIV) process that requires two forms of identification from the Form i-9.
- ✓Federal law requires verification of the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires in the U.S.
- ✓Obtain and use a Government-issued charge card for business-related travel.
- ✓Must complete a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report OGE-278e within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
- ✓You may be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- ✓Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- ✓Designated and/or Random Drug Testing may be required.
