The Inspector General (IG) is the principal technical advisor to the Director and Deputy Director on all audits, inspections, evaluations, and investigations to prevent and detect fraud, waste, and abuse in DISA programs. The IG initiates and conducts these reviews by leadership direction or independently under the Inspector General Act. Administratively reporting to the Deputy Director, the IG maintains the full independence required to execute the position's duties.
What You'll Do
- →Major Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Provides information and advisory support to the Director and Deputy Director on problems, deficiencies, corrective actions, and matters involving audits, investigations, inspections, fraud, waste, and abuse.
- →Serves as the Agency's senior point of contact for audit follow-up activities, including tracking recommendations from GAO, DoW IG, and internal sources, preparing quarterly reports, and highlighting areas of disagreement or delayed responses for awareness.
- →Initiates, conducts and supports audits, investigations, evaluations, and organizational assessments across DISA programs and operations in accordance with applicable professional standards (PCIE, GAGAS, GAO, and DoW IG).
- →Acts as the principal expert and advisor to the Director and Deputy Director on all matters covered by the Inspector General Act of 1978, including the prevention and detection of fraud, waste, abuse, and mismanagement.
- →Operates the IG hotline to receive and handle allegations of fraud, waste, and abuse while maintaining controls to protect whistleblower identities and address reprisal complaints.
- →Reviews and supports audits performed by Independent Public Accountants (IPAs) for compliance with Government auditing and accounting standards, and examines best practices and internal controls from the cybersecurity and IT sectors for potential relevance to DISA.
- →Coordinates and represents DISA's interests on IG-related matters with external entities such as the Defense Criminal Investigative Service, DoW components, other federal agencies, law enforcement, and other Inspectors General, while participating in the review of legislation and regulations to provide input on potential impacts and compliance considerations.
