What You'll Do
- →You will work as a Bureau of Medicine and Surgery (BUMED) industrial hygienist.
- →You will conduct industrial hygiene surveys to assess personnel exposures to chemical, physical and biological agents; provide recommendations for their reduction or elimination; recommend controls and enrollment in specific surveillance programs.
- →You will plan and conduct complete evaluations of industrial work operations at a naval shipyard and other installations within the area of responsibility.
- →You will assist in the preparation of written workplace monitoring plans, collecting exposure monitoring data, and updating the plans as necessary.
- →You will prepare exposure monitoring reports.
- →You will work within the DOEHRS-IH ecosystem to manage IH program responsibilities, including but not limited to documenting shops, processes, Similar Exposure Groups (SEGs), and samples.
Requirements
- ✓Basic Requirements The education must be accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S.
- ✓Department of Education(external link) at the time the degree was obtained.
- ✓Courses in the history or teaching of chemistry are not acceptable.
- ✓GS-11: 3 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree.
- ✓GS-09: 2 years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to a master's degree or master's or equivalent graduate degree.
- ✓GS-07: 1 year of graduate-level education or superior academic achievement.
