About the Role

This HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY) is located in the Military Personnel Flight (MPF), Mission Support Group at an Air National Guard (ANG) flying wing and is part of the CA 144 FW.

What You'll Do

  • THIS IS A T5 EXCEPTED SERVICE, PERMANENT POSITION The primary purpose of the HUMAN RESOURCES SPECIALIST (MILITARY), GS-0201-9, is to administer and accomplish functions of one or more of the following human resources programs: Career Enhancements, Customer Service, Employments, Relocations, and/or Readiness Plans, directs, and controls all aspects of the Customer Service Program.
  • Manages the Air Force Personnel Records System.
  • Serves as central point of contact to provide authoritative explanations of personnel-related requirements, instructions, and procedures and to assist in resolving operational problems involving all functional areas of personnel.
  • Provides guidance and assistance on unit program(s) for which responsible.
  • Technical expert in Microsoft Office applications, Adobe Acrobat, Electronic Record Management, and other Air Force information systems to create, copy, edit, and print a variety of standardized documents.
  • Utilizes MilPDS, MyFSS, RAW, myPers and databases; and completes military personnel status changes or updates.
  • Tracks and reports unit health medical readiness and provides statistics to senior leadership for readiness reporting.
  • Prepares and reviews incoming and outgoing correspondence for conformance with Air Force instructions, policies, format, and assembly to determine the appropriate action required.
  • Compiles and evaluates information for inclusion in a variety of documents and reports.
  • Creates, maintains and distributes the unit vacancy list using the UMD.
  • Provides training to supervisors on all military human resources issues.
  • Provides guidance and technical assistance to group staff regarding publications and forms preparation and processing procedures, information privacy, confidentiality, security, disclosure, and sharing of information.
  • The position resides within the infrastructure and support functions of the state National Guard; the incumbent is not subject to mobilization, nor is the work described part of the military mission; and the incumbent does not perform a key advisory or essential administrative role that is inherently military.
  • May make additional selections within 90 days of eligible(s) issuance.

Requirements

  • Recruitment/Relocation Recruitment/Relocation Incentive IS NOT authorized.
  • PCS Relocation Costs IS NOT authorized based on determination that Permanent Change of Station (PCS) move is not in the Government best interest.
  • Participation in direct deposit is mandatory.
  • May be required to successfully complete a one or two year trial period.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
  • Must maintain proper security clearance.
  • Security Clearance: at a minimum a National Agency Check is required prior to position assignment.
  • Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience: A master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree that demonstrates the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to do the work required.
  • When there is a positive education or certification requirement, or you are using education to qualify as a substitution for experience, copies of transcripts (unofficial) and/or certificates are required at the time of application to verify that you meet the educational/certification requirement or substitution.
  • Failure to provide transcripts and/or certificates at the time of application will result in automatic disqualification.
  • Only attendance and/or degrees from schools accredited by accrediting institutions recognized by the U.S.
  • Department of Education may be credited.
