About the Role

This position serves as Human Resources Specialist in the Human Resources Directorate, Programs Division and is responsible for advising managers, supervisors and employees on the processes and procedures of the Workers' Compensation Program (OWCP). What You'll Do

  • As the Human Resources Specialist (Employee Benefits) you will be responsible for the following duties: The position serves as human resources specialist in the Human Resources Directorate, Programs Division and is responsible for advising managers, supervisors and employees on the processes and procedures of the Workers' Compensation Program (OWCP).
  • Serves as primary contact for injury and unemployment compensation cases and ensures compliance with federal policy.
  • Manages Workers' Compensation Program claims from injury through return to work, coordinating investigations and identifying issues or potential fraud.
  • Provides guidance and training to management and staff on Federal Employees' Compensation Act requirements, case processes, leave options, and program responsibilities.
  • Assesses reemployment and light-duty opportunities, collaborates with HR and supervisors to develop reasonable accommodations, and advises on actions to reduce continuation of compensation.
  • Partners with Department of War, Department of Labor, medical providers, and safety officials to resolve complex cases, conduct visits, prepare reports, and recommend program improvements.
  • This is a developmental position designed to give the necessary training and work experience to develop over time to the full-performance target level of HR Specialist (Employee Benefits), GS-0201-11, PD# HQ18030.
  • Non-competitive promotion through the intervening position in the career ladder (i.e., GS-09) to the GS-11 target level is dependent on three conditions: 1.
  • The continued presence and assignment of appropriate higher-level duties and responsibilities. 2.
  • Meeting both the official qualification requirements and time in grade requirements of the target position. 3.
  • Performing satisfactorily in the developmental position.

  • A photocopy of your degree/diploma is not acceptable.
  • When relying on foreign education, submit transcripts and a copy of the equivalency evaluation results letter with a course-by-course listing.
  • Documents must be in English or include an English translation.
  • The hiring employer for this position does not evaluate degrees from foreign colleges or universities.
