About the Role

The position is in the Office of Human Resources (OHR) with the incumbent working under the direction of the Associate Director of HR Operations (Benefits and Retirement). The primary purpose of the position is to provide consultant and advisory services to employees, management, and senior officials regarding employee benefits and entitlements, such as retirement, benefits, health and life insurance, Thrift Savings Plan (TSP).

What You'll Do

  • As a, Human Resources Specialist (Benefits) (HR Benefits Program Specialist), GS- 0201-12, your typical work assignments may include: Providing consultative and advisory services to employees concerning benefits and retirement programs, responding to complex inquiries and providing information to help employees obtain maximum benefits.
  • Federal Milestone Program, Mass Transit and Childcare Subsidy Program.
  • Serving as an onsite advisor, providing counsel, advice and support to employees and managers on employee benefits programs.
  • Represents the agency in external matters and provides presentations at retirement and benefits seminars, communicating program requirements and guidance to stakeholders.
  • Interpreting and applying Federal retirement laws, regulations, principles, and procedures to make determinations on entitlements and resolve complex or sensitive benefits issues.
  • Preparing comprehensive benefits and retirement related documentation, presentations, including retirement and benefits guidance, official letters, memos, emails, internal guidance, maintains tracking databases and develop forms and checklist, while maintaining accuracy rate.
  • Utilizing HRIS systems and office automation tools to create, edit, store, or maintain spreadsheets or databases, etc. and to retrieve essential documents, ensuring compliance with digital recordkeeping standards and maintain the integrity of the information.
