This position is located within Environmental Management Services (EMS) of the Baltimore Veterans Affairs (VA) Medical Center, under the direct supervision of the Assistant Chief. This position will exercise technical and administrative supervision over subordinate workers in supporting and performing task (e.g., environment of care, textile distribution and training) associated with the EMS goals and objectives.
What You'll Do
- →Responsible for the maintenance, storage and safeguard of housekeeping tools, equipment, materials, and supplies for his/her area of assignment Responsible for the cleaning in patient areas and corridor spaces throughout Medical Center, Operating Rooms, and all other areas as assigned.
- →Ensures the cleaning of interior surfaces, general sanitation, cleanliness and associated housekeeping responsibilities located within assigned area.
- →Coordinates workload requirements and adjusts resources within assigned areas as necessary to accomplish both routine and non-routine cleaning tasks.
- →Makes scheduled and non-scheduled inspections throughout assigned areas to assure that employees are productively occupied, that work is being accomplished in a timely manner, and that rules and regulations are being observed by service personnel.
- →Investigates grievances and complaints, resolves them informally, and notifies supervisor(s) of sufficient importance or seriousness.
- →Assures subordinates are following safety and approved technical procedures in accordance with department procedures guides.
- →Maintains work reports and records and assists supervisor(s) in planning overall leave schedules.
- →Recommends promotion or reassignment, performance ratings, training, disciplinary actions, changes in performance standards, and the suitable applicants for vacancies.

- →Lifting to 50pounds.
- →Approximately 40 percent of time spent standing, 40 percent of time spent walking and 20 percent of time spent sitting.
- →Hearing and visual acuity.
- →Manual dexterity to use a phone and operate equipment Working Conditions: The work is accomplished in a variety of different areas including operating· rooms, treatment rooms, examination rooms, imaging rooms, wards and other public, recreational and administrative areas.
- →Protective clothing and personnel protective equipment (PPE) including ·gowns, gloves, safety shoes, masks, etc. is required in the accomplishment of some aspects of the work.
Requirements
