About the Position: This position is with the Defense Health Agency at the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center in Fort Hood, Texas. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation A recruitment or relocation incentive may be authorized Student Loan Repayment may be authorized Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service
What You'll Do
- →Provide health education and counseling to a variety of clients in areas such as tobacco cessation, nutrition, weight control, stress management, self-care, accident prevention, exercise, hypertension, and communicable diseases.
- →Review existing written/audio-visual materials or develop new materials; prepare supplemental instructional materials; and prepare after action reports according to established procedure.
- →Serve as liaison to unit commanders and family support groups for the provision of health education and health promotion services; and schedule classes and counseling sessions with activities and participants.
- →Assist in assessing health education needs of the community through the use of surveys, interviews, or questionnaires; and extract and assemble data for reports.
- →Coordinate and conduct community health fairs and health initiatives.
- →Develop and maintain computerized databases; and track participants via phone or mail that have completed various programs in order to evaluate success rates.
- →Perform quality assurance checks on all health screening equipment; restock required supplies; and clean, wash, and disinfect equipment.
- →When not performing health promotion duties, serve as a medical support assistant performing duties such as receiving incoming correspondence, screening patients for treatment eligibility, and contacting clients regarding appointments.
