About the Role

This position entails writing health and science materials about a variety of topics for nationwide distribution to a general audience. It is located in the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of the Director (OD), Office of Communications and Public Liaison (OCPL).

What You'll Do

  • Serve as technical resource in assessing, planning, developing, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating existing, new, or novel public health communication strategies for national dissemination of information to variety audiences.
  • Develop methodologies and techniques to assess the effectiveness of health communication and to develop and/or improve communication products accordingly.
  • Plan, organize, and carry out workshops, conferences, public meetings, and symposia.
  • Initiate and/or participate in evaluation efforts and studies to develop and implement public heath communication products for a broad range or at-risk audience.
  • Select and apply qualitative and quantitative techniques to analyze behavioral and epidemiologic data.
  • Prepare responses to complex or controversial program inquires; write and/or edit articles for publication in scientific, medical, or comparable journals.
  • Develop materials to educate the general public and target audiences on specific public health issues, preventions, and interventions.
  • Manage and oversee national public health communication campaigns; develop strategic plans to achieve campaign goals and objectives.
  • Develops and coordinates written products that clearly articulate, interpret, and explain complex organizational policies, programs, and research findings in public health for diverse audiences.
  • Prepares and edits a range of public health communication materials, including articles for scientific, medical, and comparable journals, ensuring technical, scientific, and programmatic accuracy.
  • Designs and executes workshops, conferences, public meetings, and symposia to advance public health education and engage with target audiences.
  • Serves as a technical resource in planning, assessing, and implementing public health communication strategies to support national information dissemination and organizational objectives.
  • Creates and applies methodologies to evaluate the effectiveness of health communications and improve communication products based on data-driven insights.
  • Utilizes qualitative and quantitative techniques to analyze behavioral and epidemiologic data, performing formative research and gap analyses to inform and refine public health initiatives.
