The Education Technician position is located at the VA Portland Health Care System (VAPORHCS) in the Education Division, Patient Care Services Strategic Business Unit, in the Veterans Integrated Service Network 20 (VISN20).
What You'll Do
- →The Education Technician provides a wide variety of analytical, program administrative, and policy functions; to include, providing specialized duties for the VHA Resuscitation Education Initiative (REdl) and Simulation programs; as well as, for the entire Education Division.
- →Other duties include: Performs front desk management and provides a high level of administrative support services to members of the staff, agency, and persons outside the agency ranging from patients and family, facility and VISN20 staff at all organizational levels, to other government and non-government officials.
- →Answering the telephone and divisional emails, referring visitors and ascertaining the nature of their business or providing information about the office, its functions, and standard operating procedures, as well as similar information.
- →Acts as primary timekeeper for Education Division, processing all timekeeping for the department.
- →Trains the backup timekeepers on timekeeping requirements and trains new employees on the use of VATAS.
- →Incumbent serves as Fund Control Point (FCP) clerk for Education with IFCAP access to Education's main FCPs and the primary government purchase card holder.
- →Incumbent assists in the maintenance of FCPs assigned to Education, procuring supplies and equipment, and reconciling these accounts.
- →Provides customer service in the coordination of meetings and/or conferences for a wide variety of staff throughout the medical center by being the point of contact, providing the policy, handling of disputes, answering questions, and providing options.
- →Acts as a facility level administrative representative of the meeting room scheduling software.
- →Meets, collaborates, and coordinates with individuals at all organizational levels, VISN20 contacts, public contacts and persons of diverse backgrounds to provide specialized information and/or to direct inquiries appropriately.
- →Works assignments will involve a wide variety of problems or situations for which the incumbent is responsible for independently resolving issues or recommending actions that are consistent with the complex objectives and requirements of the Education programs.
- →Oversees all the equipment, providing general maintenance, procuring replacement parts and necessary supplies needed for simulation.
- →Programs a variety of content for Basic Life Support/Advanced Cardiac Life Support and simulations based upon learning needs.
- →Works directly with the stakeholders to problem solve issues, e.g., vendors, Facility Management Service, Biomed, simulation coordinator, OIT, and clinical stakeholders.
