This position is situated within the Under Secretary of War for Research and Engineering (USW(R&E)), Office of the Assistant Secretary of War for Science and Technology, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of War for Science and Technology, Foundations.

- →Leads the DoW in developing, tracking, and reporting strategic goals for laboratory modernization and maintain currency on the latest developments in military construction as it pertains to laboratory modernization.
- →In addition, the Director will draft and submit annual Sec 2806 and Sec 2810 congressional reports.
- →Serves as the Program Manager for the Central Laboratory Investment Program (CLIP).
- →The Director will track progress of existing CLIP projects, establish processes for selecting future projects, and ensure annual Office of the Secretary of War financial goals are met.
- →Exercise independent initiative, skill, and judgment in developing content and techniques for conducting technical oversight of programs relating to DoW Laboratory facility modernization.
- →Interfaces with senior officials and representatives from the Military Departments, other DoW organizations, other Federal agencies, international military scientific organizations, congressional committees, the White House, and the private sector.
- →The Director will chair meetings of ad-hoc groups and committees or leads teams commissioned to resolve specific problems within assigned portfolio.
