What You'll Do

  • Serves as the Director of Concepts for the U.S.
  • Army Futures and Concept Command (FCC), providing the visionary leadership required to design the Army of 2040 by setting the Army's Warfighting and Transforming priorities.
  • The Director acts as the primary representative for developing Joint Warfighting Concepts, ensuring strategic synchronization across U.S. military branches and coalition partners.
  • Core duties include analyzing the 5-to-15-year Future Operational Environment (FOE) to anticipate multi-domain challenges, cultivating military innovation, and translating abstract concepts into tangible materiel, doctrine, and training solutions.
  • Operating with high delegated authority, the Director routinely represents the Commanding General at senior Department of War (DoW) forums while providing strategic guidance to four Future Capability Directorates (FCD)s, leading 425 personnel, and managing a $5.6M budget to ensure future Army formations remain decisive and lethal.

Requirements

  • CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Must be a U.S.

  • You will serve a one-year probationary period unless you have previously completed the probationary period in the SES.
  • Complete a Declaration for Federal Employment to determine your suitability for Federal employment, at the time requested by the agency If you are a male applicant born after December 31, 1959, certify that you have registered with the Selective Service System or are exempt from having to do so.
  • You must be able to submit and pass designated and/or Random Drug Testing as required.
  • File a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report OGE-278e within 30 days of appointment and annually from then on.
  • Appointment is subject to the completion of a favorable suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a background investigation.
  • You must be able to obtain/maintain the appropriate clearance and access level for this position.
  • Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • Direct deposit of pay is required.
  • The incumbent is required to travel on both scheduled and unscheduled aircraft, and other modes as required, under conditions specified under the DoD Joint Travel Regulations.
  • The incumbent is expected to travel on short notice to attend high level meetings to obtain resolution of problems and gather information to assist in the decision-making process.
