About the Position: This position is located at Fort Riley, Kansas. The location for this position is Irwin Army Community Hospital. Salary negotiation may be available for those candidates who are new to Federal service. Non-Federal work experience may be creditable for leave purposes. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
What You'll Do
- →Obtain diet orders before each meal service from ward nursing staff from faxed diet rosters.
- →Order non-prescription nourishment for patients while maintaining nutritional requirements and limitations of specific diets.
- →Utilize knowledge of calorie values, carbohydrate, protein, fat, fiber, sodium, potassium, and other nutrition components of foods.
- →Assist the dietitian in assessment of nutrition status, nutrition monitoring and screening of individual patient's needs.
- →Monitor patient's food tolerances, preferences, allergies, and/or special needs.
- →Provide professional, courteous verbal communication and interviewing skills.
- →Check diet roster prior to each meal; make necessary diet changes.
- →Periodically order 'mock' trays for quality assurance purposes.
