About the Role
This position is assigned to the Dental Service at the Atlanta VA Healthcare System located in Decatur, Georgia. The incumbent performs dental assisting duties of increased scope, complexity, and variety that reflect an advanced clinical assignment. He/she applies highly developed clinical skills and carry out the full range of duties associated with routine patient care, working under indirect supervision from the Supervisory Dental Assistant or the treating dentist.
What You'll Do
- →Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Gathers diagnostic information, charting of existing conditions.
- →Assists with specialty procedures including oral surgery, periodontal therapy, endodontic, prosthodontic and implant placement and restoration Anticipates surgeons/specialists needs at each stage of treatment.
- →Takes preliminary impressions.
- →Receives and prepares patient for treatment including seating, positioning chair, placing napkin, performing disinfection procedures in the operatory.
- →Prepares procedural trays/set-ups.
- →Exposes and processes digital dental radiographs saving digital images to the electronic medical record with indirect supervision.
- →Pours, trims, evaluates the quality of diagnostic casts.
- →Fabricates custom trays.
- →Captures standard and special dental images of good diagnostic quality in traditional or digital formats.
- →Work Schedule: Monday - Friday; 7:00 am - 3:30 pm.
- →Will be required to work rotating Saturdays.
- →Work Schedule is subject to change based on agency need.
- →Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.
- →When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).
