About the Role

This position is located in the Veterans' Employment and Training Service (VETS),Office of Field Operations (OFO), Regional Office which is responsible for the compliance assistance (CA) and enforcement activities of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994.

What You'll Do

  • The duties described below are at the full performance level (GS-12).
  • Incumbents hired at the GS-9 or GS-11 grade level will serve in a developmental capacity, where the incumbent works under closer supervision while continuing to exercise supervisory and managerial authority assigned for the position.
  • Support state, multi-state, and regional oversight, programmatic analysis and coordination and program performance of VETS' investigations of compliance activities of employers, businesses, government contractors/subcontractors and other entities.
  • Conduct, coordinate, or work with others in conducting, investigations of USERRA complaints filed by veterans; Active, Reserve, and National Guard (NG) uniformed service members; members of the National Disaster Medical System (NDMS), when authorized; and other persons engaged in USERRA protected activity.
  • Conducting and teaming with others on projects, performs initial case assessment and develops an investigative action plan.
  • Conducts investigations, including initial contact and follow-on interviews of claimants and employers; draft correspondence, reports of investigation, reports of contact, requests for Regional Solicitor (RSOL) assistance, requests for information, and settlement agreements.
  • Receive and analyze employer responses and supporting documentation for relevance and sufficiency, and requests follow-up responses as necessary.
  • Works closely with, assists, and performs regional records management program support, specifically with regard to the regional compliance and investigations program's investigative case files and records, and FOIA response files.
