About the Role

The Clinical Resource Hub (CRH) is a repository of clinical and administrative staff that serve Veterans Affairs facilities within a VISN. Services provided by CRH staff are conducted via multiple modalities, including virtual, Clinical Video Telehealth (CVT), VA Video Connect (VVC) and Telephone modalities will also be utilized as modalities for treatment.

What You'll Do

  • Duties include but are not limited to the following: Expected to possess strong clinical skills to provide treatment for mental health disorders relevant to Veterans at risk for suicide.
  • Incumbent provides a wide range of care including: risk assessment and referral, intake/diagnostic and psychosocial assessments, comprehensive treatment planning, and evidence-based psychotherapy services in a manner consistent with established protocols to Veterans at risk for suicide.
  • Additionally, the incumbent will have opportunities to engage in other suicide prevention related tasks and needs, such as training, consulting, and future suicide prevention initiatives.
  • Works closely with the Substance Abuse Treatment Program, Suicide Prevention facility based teams, and other Behavioral Health services to ensure a seamless transition to appropriate services for Veterans.
  • Providing clinical services in a virtual modality is expected.
  • Virtual modality includes video telehealth, patient/provider secure messaging, telephone visits, review of electronic medical records.
  • Use a high level of skill in assessing and treating the complex factors of suicidality.
  • Reviews the medical record and previous psychosocial assessments when the Veteran is referred, consulting with the referring provider as needed, and will complete an assessment of current symptoms/functioning/needs and provide a thorough treatment plan when a Veteran engages in CRH mental health services.
  • Provide evidence-based suicide prevention psychotherapies and interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Suicide Prevention, Advanced Safety Planning, Problem Solving Therapy for Suicide Prevention, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
  • Maintains high level of skill and expertise to establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with Veterans and their families.
  • Independently works with Veterans and their families who are experiencing a wide range of complicated medical, psychiatric, emotional, behavioral, and psychosocial problems within the context of suicide risk.
  • Completes a current psychosocial assessment to determine the psychosocial functioning and needs of Veterans, after thorough review of the medical record.
  • The incumbent must be able to utilize this assessment and the VA/DoD Clinical Practice Guidelines for Assessment and Management of Patients at Risk for Suicide (2019) in facilitating the Veteran's maximum use of treatment for attainment of the highest level of recovery that is possible and practicable.

  • Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
