About the Role

This Nurse Practitioner, CBOC APRN Medical Director position is located within Primary Care Service. The Administrative Office is located at the Jamaica Plain hospital campus. Travel is required to all VA Boston CBOC campuses including Framingham, Lowell, Plymouth and Quincy. This position is full-time at 40 hours per week. What You'll Do

  • The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring that excellent, high-quality care is provided to our Veteran population in Community Based Outpatient Clinics located in Plymouth, Quincy, Framingham, and Lowell.
  • These four practices total 24 providers for > 8000 patients.
  • This full-time position includes approximately 51% clinical time and 49% administrative time.
  • This person will be the Medical Director for the five VA Boston Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
  • There is no call, and no weekend or holiday duty.
  • Key responsibilities include: Working as a member of the management team to provide oversight of practice management including direct provider supervision, operational issues and clinical performance.
  • The Medical Director will have clinical time at one of the clinics above, providing longitudinal care to a panel of medically complex and diverse patients.
  • Developing local educational initiatives for providers and trainees.
  • Implementing clinical quality improvement initiatives.
  • The VA utilizes a national electronic medical record and is known for delivering high quality, evidence-based care within a culture of continuous improvement.
  • The Primary Care Service at VA Boston Healthcare System is leading the VHA's initiative in the Whole Health System of care which includes conventional treatment but also focuses on self-empowerment, self-healing, and self-care.
  • The Whole Health System approach is informed by evidence-based research and makes use of all appropriate therapeutic approaches and disciplines to achieve optimal health and healing.VA Boston Healthcare System offers teaching opportunities for both medical students and medical residents in the inpatient and outpatient arenas.
  • Academic accomplishments will be commensurate with academic appointment at the Instructor or Assistant Professor level at Harvard Medical School or Boston University School of Medicine.

Requirements

  • Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
