About the Role

The Associate Administrator (AA) for the Office of Maritime Industry Support is the Senior Executive that is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to all financial, grant and insurance programs (e.g., marine insurance, Title XI Federal Ship Financing and Credit, Capital Construction Fund and Construction Reserve Fund agreements, and port development) in support of the maritime industry.

What You'll Do

  • The Associate Administrator will: Develop and execute policies, programs, and initiatives designed to support the nation's maritime transportation system (e.g., shipbuilding, ship repair, port and waterway development).
  • Prepare and review position papers, legislative and regulatory proposals for approval by the Maritime Administrator and senior DOT officials, as well as officials of other Federal agencies and the maritime industry.
  • Provide ongoing oversight and direction regarding recommendations, approvals, disapprovals, or other courses of action in relation to awards, administration, amendments or modifications of Title XI ship financing guarantee contracts, Capital Construction Fund and Construction Reserve Fund agreements.
  • Ensure that the Maritime Administration (MARAD) is prepared for presentations before the Department's Credit Council, chaired by the Deputy Secretary.
  • Represent and speak for the Maritime Administrator at professional meetings and at conferences with top level government and industry officials concerning matters within areas of program responsibility.
  • Advocate the overall mission and goals of MARAD and the Department of Transportation, specifically as they relate to the programs under the employee's cognizance.

  • DRUG TEST: This is a drug testing position.
  • You will be required to complete a drug test upon entry of this position and are subjected to at random drug testing.
  • If you are qualifying for this position by substituting education or training for experience, submit a copy of your transcripts or equivalent.
  • An official transcript will be required if you are selected.
  • A college or university degree generally must be from an accredited (or pre-accredited) college or university recognized by the U.S.
  • Department of Education.
