The position serves as Deputy for Environmental Management Service at the Kansas City VA Medical Center. The incumbent supports and advises the Chief, EMS; leads the development and execution of EMS programs; and oversees all housekeeping and related functions. In the Chief's absence, the incumbent assumes full management responsibility.
What You'll Do
- →Duties include, but are not limited to: Developing local policies, regulations, and policies pertaining to facility environmental management, as well as mission statements, performance standards and functional and organizational charts as they apply to the service.
- →Evaluating new policies and directives to determine the impact on Environmental Management Services.
- →Providing technical interpretations of complex regulations to his/her staff as well as various Services within the Medical Center.
- →Analyzing new or proposed legislation, directives, or measures affecting EMS, to determine the impact on Medical Center operations, funding, workload, and resources.
- →Assisting in conducting tests and experiments of housekeeping products and equipment to determine which are better and most cost effective.
- →Developing management and/or evaluation plans, procedures, and methodologies for improvement.
- →Conducting studies of departmental and/or organizational performance and recommends changes in organization, staffing and work processes and procedures.
- →Overseeing and directing the daily activities of EMS to include appropriate cleaning and sanitation of all offices, concourses, seating areas, washrooms, canteen, operating rooms, patient care areas and all public spaces within the Medical Center.
- →Participating in formal and informal management sessions, including policy review and advisory boards of committees whose functions are not limited to EMS concerns.
