This position is assigned to the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Fitness, Sports, and Deployed Forces Support Branch; Fleet Readiness; Commander, Navy Installations Command (CNIC); NAS Pensacola. Incumbent serves as a Program Manager in the Branch and assists with the oversight of the Aquatics Program aboard Corry Station/NAS Pensacola.
What You'll Do
- →Aquatics (includes but not limited to): Assists in planning, and implementing a comprehensive, aquatics program, for active and retired military, authorized civilians, contractors, and dependents at multiple facilities.
- →Program includes recreation swim, lap swim, water safety instruction, aquatic events, etc.
- →Protects lives through aggressive prevention, preparedness, education, emergency medical, and rescue programs.
- →Ensures all applicable rules and regulations pertaining to swimming pools and waterfronts are posted and observed.
- →Performs water rescues and land rescues equal to the standard of training when an emergency is taking place (e.g. drowning, medical or trauma in the water, etc.).
- →Manages respiratory, cardiac and first aid emergencies to include performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), bag-valve-mask (BVM) resuscitation, or automatic external defibrillation(AED).
- →Manages the use and maintenance of emergency equipment such as specialized kits and rescue bags, backboards, suction devices, splints, stretchers, and monitoring equipment.
- →Develops and oversees emergency medical and rescue training, public education and other related educational and functional duties.
- →Teaches various swimming skills and basic diving for all age groups.
- →Prepares material for classes being taught.
- →Ensures the safety of all patrons in the class.
- →Ensures all maintenance work, water chemical testing, pool vacuuming, filtration, and equipment are within the scope required by preventative medicine standards.Serves as the subject matter expert on aquatics for the installation.
- →Supervisory duties comprise 25% of incumbent's time and include but are not limited to: Directs work to be accomplished by staff.
- →Assigns work based on priorities, difficulty and requirements of assignments, and staff capabilities.
