The Advanced Medical Support Assistant's (AMSA) with the Acute Care Department provides all administrative support for the emergency department.. The administrative aspect of patient care including access, coordinating transfers in and out of the emergency department, patient processing and customer service.

- →The Advanced Medical Support Assistant (AMSA) is responsible for assuring that various aspects of compliance, reporting, and quality assurance are met.
- →These activities directly affect the revenue cycle, patient access to care, hospital performance goals and objectives as well as VHA public image.
- →Their work also impacts processes, action plans, monitoring and reporting.
- →Major duties include (but not limited to): Answer phones and directing phone calls.
- →Completes all tasks related to admission, discharge and transfer of patients.
- →Filing patient information in a timely manner.
- →Contacting physicians for order clarification.
- →Assist nurses with administrative requests.
- →Knowledge of policies and procedures that affect the functioning of the emergency department.
- →Communicate with patients, family, and general public in a courteous, tactful, and helpful manner.
Requirements
- ✓You must be a U.S.

- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.
