About the Role

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Administrative Officer (AO) for the Environmental Management Service (EMS), responsible for the coordination and monitoring of all EMS administrative programs. The AO acts as a resource person in planning, reviewing, or revising policies and procedures that impact patient care textile care, housekeeping and EMS service policy.

What You'll Do

  • Major duties and responsibilities include but not limited to: Assists staff at all levels in display and interpretation of data, data elements, and/or other information contained in reports, and assures that reports are accurate, structured in a user-friendly format and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Provides substantive advice and assistance to managers and staff concerning Federal and agency personnel processes and procedures.
  • Provides advice on solving personnel-related problems including relationship with pertinent laws, regulations and policies.
  • Maintains administrative systems, prepares administrative paperwork and maintains appointments/calendars/ schedules; coordinates meetings; makes travel arrangements; schedules appointments, interviews, conferences; maintains direct access to manages schedules/calendars.
  • Assist management and staff with drafting, editing, and production of a variety of materials for training, education, and/or policy related materials.
  • Independently manages the development and modification of automation projects, collaborates on the modification of project design and specification, and develops methods for the collection and retrieval of computer information from established systems to enhance analysis of program related data.
  • Provides guidance and support to operating programs, Incumbent acts as a resource to supervisory staff for report development, data collection processes, and presentation requirements to provide consistent product.
  • Submits procurement and acquisition requests (e.g., Federal Acquisition Regulation(FAR) and Veterans Affairs Acquisition Regulation (VAAR); Knowledgeable in the federal laws, policies, rules and regulations governing Supply Chain Management (e.g., Federal Management Regulations (FMR), VA Handbooks and Directives, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Serves as the Service Contracting Officer Representative; prepares contract statements of work.
  • Reviews financial reports and resolves discrepancies with the appropriate accounting office.
