Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Finance, Financial Operations located in Indianapolis, IN. - →This position is located within the Financial Operations Directorate of the Office of Finance (OF), Office of Commissioner, United States Customs and Border Protection (CBP), United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS).
- →The purpose of the position is to support accounting and finance work that will encompass revenue processing, commercial accounts, travel, payroll, account maintenance and reconciliation, data validation, and accounting system review functions.
- →Typical duties for this position include: Performing reconciliation of transactions, accounts, accruals, and adjustments, and resolves discrepancies Reviewing and processing transactions into various financial systems, reviews data entry for accuracy and performs adjustments.
- →Entering and verifying accounting data for governmental and commercial invoice payment transactions; reconciles accounts, comparing account balances with related data to assure agreement; reviews records and source documents to identify the sources of discrepancies; and determines the entries required to bring the account into balance.
- →Performing Level I help desk functions by receiving, researching and responding to inquiries sent to CBP via standard mail services, email, and telephone.
