This position is located in the Architect of the Capitol, Office of the Chief Engineer, Construction Management Division, Construction Execution Branch. The selectee serves as the first-line supervisor of Laborers, Carpenters and Wood Crafters and oversees the work site related to the building renovations, maintenance and repairs of historical buildings over the Capitol Hill Campus. Journey Experience is Required for the Position.
What You'll Do
- →*** This position is temporary in nature and is not to exceed 24 months.
- →This is strictly a temporary appointment where there is no permanent need or permanent funding available for the work involved.
- →This position is subject to the project needs of the Agency.
- →Therefore, the appointment could be terminated at any time due to shortage of work or shortage of funds without any advance notice.
- →If project work continues however, it could be extended beyond the 24-month time frame at the sole discretion of the Agency.
- →As a non-permanent employee, you may also be separated for failure to meet management's expectations, with no advance notice. *** Night Shift: 8:00 PM to 6:30 AM Hours may change due to Operational Needs of Management Major Duties: Supervisory Responsibilities -Performs administrative and technical supervisory functions for subordinates.
- →Assigns duties to, and evaluates their performance.
- →Provides or receives training, either on the job or through classroom training, to ensure that all direct reports know how to use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- →Routinely checks to verify that subordinates are using all required PPE.
- →Responsible for framing and for installation of drywall.
- →Crafts High-Quality, Decorative Woodwork -Selects, cuts, turns, shapes, joins, bonds, fits, assembles, and decorates wooden materials and parts, using the full range of hand and power woodworking tools, machines, and techniques to create superior and structurally reliable woodwork that requires exact fitting and close weight, pressure, and size tolerances to construct specialty furniture.
- →Woodwork examples include cabinetry, furniture, bookcases, countertops, wainscot paneling, rostrums, podiums, and reception counters.
