About the Position: Serves as a Transportation Specialist within SDDC at Battalion level. Position provides customers with technical transportation guidance and cargo movement support while using a wide variety of transportation and distribution services for the movement of international and intermodal shipments.
What You'll Do
- →Interpret and implement cargo plans, making adjustments when warranted to provide an efficient flow of cargo through the terminal.
- →Act as transportation liaison with commercial carriers, military and civilian federal agencies, local authorities, customer liaisons, and the staff.
- →Provide technical instruction to employees on cargo management functions involving Import and Export documentation.
- →Monitor shippers, carriers, and outside agencies data input into transportation systems.
- →Perform complex cargo stowage planning, overseeing/monitoring for the stowing and loading, planning and discharge of cargo including hazardous cargo aboard vessels.
- →Plan and coordinate operations to accomplish effective loading and discharge of cargo.
- →Conduct port site surveys and studies; process documentation for mode movement requirements and maintain port study technical data files.
- →Inspect ships' cargo holds for required cleanliness and conditions prior to and after loading/discharge operations and ensure correction of inadequacies.
