You will serve as a SUPERVISORY NAVAL ARCHITECT in the NAVAL ARCHITECTURE DIVISION, ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT of SUPSHIP.
What You'll Do
- →You will control the activities of the branch by planning, setting work priorities, assignment of responsibilities, and by the establishment objectives against which the performance of the branch is measured.
- →You will plan work to be accomplished by branch personnel and set priorities and prepare schedules for completion of work.
- →You will give advice, counsel or instruction to branch personnel on both technical and administrative matters.
- →You will provide expert technical advice to personnel concerning intent and application of detail specification and military specification requirements for design, fabrication, preservation, and overhaul of surface ship and submarine structures.
- →You will conduct surveillance of Contractor engineering practices (including subcontractors) to the extent necessary to demonstrate that the Contractor is meeting contract and specification requirements.
- →You will review and prepare engineering contract changes to determine the change contains sufficient specifications to ensure clarity, correctness, adequacy, suitability and engineering feasibility of arrangement and installation guidance plans.
- →You will develop contract Field Modification Requisitions (FMR's) with authority granted or as directed by higher authority or other applicable commands concerning engineering decisions reserved to those activities.
- →You will perform ship checks and similar functions and facilitate resolution of technical programs in cognitive systems/equipment.
- →You will coordinate efforts and maintain liaison through meetings and conferences with Contractor supervisors, design engineers, vendors and other engineering personnel from within the organization and from other Naval commands.
Requirements
- ✓Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Successful completion of a professional engineering degree.
- ✓Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
- ✓OR Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.

- ✓OR Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above).
- ✓Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.
