About the Role
About the Position: Join us at the United States Southern Command. We provide support to a four star unified Combatant Commander, but are compact enough that our staff also work with senior leadership representatives of our inter-service and (public and private) international partner organizations. Our contribution to furthering our country's relationships with South and Central American Nations are substantial. We are looking for talented individuals to join the US SOUTHCOM team.
What You'll Do
- →Direct the resourcing, planning, training, and strategic oversight of Sensitive Activities (SA) and Operation Preparation of the Environment (OPE) to support USSOUTHCOM’s Sensitive Activities Division.
- →Serve as a technical expert and principal advisor to the Director of Operations and Commander, USSOUTHCOM, providing authoritative briefings on the status of special operations and sensitive activities within the Area of Responsibility (AOR).
- →Coordinate Clandestine Activities, Irregular Warfare (IW) objectives, and Counter-Weapons of Mass Destruction (CWMD) operations into Command-wide strategies and assessments.
- →Develop Command-level policies, procedures, and staffing standards for the employment of Special Operations Forces (SOF) and sensitive activity elements.
- →Exercise delegated authority to supervise a technical and administrative staff, including planning work schedules, evaluating performance, identifying training needs, and resolving employee grievances.
- →Manage detailed crisis response planning and provides operational oversight for contingency operations ISO CDRUSSOUTHCOM, serving as a key manager for mission-critical events.
- →Represent USSOUTHCOM interests in high-level meetings with the Joint Staff, Intelligence Community (IC), and other government agencies to justify and defend Command positions on strategy and policy.
- →Prioritize funding and resourcing requirements for CWMD and Special Operations missions in direct coordination with J8 budget personnel to ensure mission readiness.
- →Direct the analysis and staff activities of the Sensitive Activities Division, guiding Sensitive Activity working groups and Operational Planning Teams (OPTs) in the execution of complex technical programs.
