About the Role
The Albert Lea Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) has an opening for a Full-Time Staff Physician. CBOCs within the Minneapolis VA Health Care System provide care to Veterans near their home town and serve over 18,000 Veterans throughout Minnesota and Western Wisconsin.
What You'll Do

- →Our physicians serve the primary care health needs of Albert Lea and rural areas using a team approach with nursing and onsite clinical pharmacist.
- →Mental Health services within the clinic help to provide comprehensive care to the Veterans served in this VA Community Clinic.
- →Take time with your patients.
- →Visits for established patients are 30 minutes and for new patients 60 minutes Providers will perform outpatient duties and management of scheduled and unscheduled patients.
- →An assigned panel of patients is determined by the VHA PCMM software package which is specific to their practice and setting.
- →Focus on care include the chronic disease initiative areas of CHF, COPD and DM, mental health collaboration in the PC setting, MOVE program focusing on weight loss, diet and activity as well as health promotion/disease management.
- →Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 0800-1630
Requirements
- ✓Citizenship; non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy.
- ✓All applicants tentatively selected for VA employment in a testing designated position are subject to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment.
- ✓Applicants who refuse to be tested will be denied employment with VA.
- ✓Selective Service Registration is required for males born after 12/31/1959.
- ✓Must be proficient in written and spoken English.
- ✓Subject to background/security investigation.

- ✓Must pass pre-employment physical examination.
- ✓Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP).
- ✓You may be required to serve a probationary period.

- ✓Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in allopathic medicine or osteopathic medicine.
