About the Role

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Operations Support, CBP Watch, Incident Management located in Washington, DC. Additional selections may be made to include other organizational divisions and/or units within the duty location(s) listed above.

What You'll Do

  • This position is located in the U.S.
  • Customs and Border Protection (CBP), Operations Support Office, CBP Watch.
  • The incumbent serves as the Assistant Director for the Emergency Management Division, responsible for directing, planning, and organizing emergency management operations to ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for CBP's law enforcement and intelligence collection mission.
  • The work directly supports CBP's ability to maintain global situational awareness and proactively address threats and incidents, helping to prevent terrorists from entering the United States.
  • This position starts at a salary of $169,279.00 (GS-15, Step 1) to $197,200.00 (GS-15, Step 10).
  • Typical duties will include: Managing and directing the day-to-day operations of the CBP Watch, Emergency Management Division through subordinate supervisors, ensuring the continuity of operations and real-time information flow to the Commissioner, Deputy Commissioner, and CBP senior leadership.
  • Coordinating with senior law enforcement officials on significant law enforcement activities, incident reporting, and responses, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and consistency.
  • Overseeing collection, processing, and dissemination of law enforcement operational and situational information critical to CBP and DHS leadership.
  • Coordinating with the Office of Intelligence to ensure alignment between intelligence reporting and operational incidents.
  • Participating fully in setting short- and long-term strategic goals and objectives for the CBP Watch and Emergency Management Division, in coordination with Operations Support and CBP senior leadership.
  • Participating in CBP's budget formulation and execution efforts to support the Watch's mission and evolving operational requirements.
