About the Role

This position is located in the Office of Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, (ISR) Systems and Technology (CG-26) for the Assistant Commandant for Intelligence (CG-2), U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, DC.

What You'll Do

  • The incumbent serves as Chief, Office of Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance, (ISR) Systems and Technology (CG-26) for the Assistant Commandant for Intelligence (CG-2), U.S.
  • Coast Guard Headquarters, Washington, DC.
  • The incumbent serves as a technical authority and Coast Guard Chief Information Officer (CIO) for the Coast Guard intelligence program information technology (IT) capabilities, oversees the Coast Guard Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) Information Assurance program and perform the duties of, and be certified to serve as, the TS//SCI Authorizing Official.
  • Addresses a wide variety of issues pertaining to the assessment of Coast Guard IT systems capabilities, requirements, policy compliance and special technical advisory functions regarding national, theater and tactical level technical intelligence IT systems.
  • Duties include, but are not limited to: Serves as an IT senior official with authority to formally operate an information system at an acceptable level of risk to organizational operations (including mission, functions, image, or reputation), organizational assets, individuals, other organizations, and the United States.
  • Develops and maintains business systems, and information processes to support the core mission systems' banking needs; develops information technology (IT) rules and requirements that describe baseline and target architectures.
  • Ensures stakeholder security needs are fully considered throughout the enterprise architecture, from reference models to segment and solution designs, as well as the systems that support the organization's mission and business operations.
  • Manages and directs the preparation of reports and provides training, guidance, and mentoring.
  • Performs leadership and oversight over the organization and staff.
  • Performs the full range of supervisory responsibilities for staff.
  • Manages, supervises, assigns, and reviews the work of subordinates; plans and carries out the training and development of staff, including on the job training or formal training; prepares performance standards and performance appraisals, and evaluates staff performance; and makes recommendations on rewards and disciplinary actions according to employee's performance or conduct.
  • Interviews candidates, making authoritative final decisions involving staff selection and hiring.
  • Performs all managerial and supervisory responsibilities in accordance with Federal Merit Principles and Equal Employment Opportunities Policies.
  • Determines and manages the Division's contract budgets, software, and personnel.
