This position is located in U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO). This position is a leadership role as Chief of the Network Security Branch within the Cybersecurity Infrastruction Division of the Cybersecurity & Privacy Operations Center (CPOC). This position is critical role in safeguarding the USDA's enterprise network by controlling data traffic and ensuring identifying and preventing network security threats.
What You'll Do
- →Assist in identifying, prioritizing, and coordinating the protection of critical cyber defense infrastructure and key resources.
- →Coordinate with Cyber Defense Analysts to manage and administer the updating of rules and signatures.
- →Perform system administration on specialized cyber defense applications and systems or Virtual Private Network (VPN) devices, to include installation, configuration, maintenance, backup, and restoration.
- →Document and address organization's information security, cybersecurity architecture, and systems security engineering requirements throughout the acquisition life cycle.
- →Perform security reviews, identify gaps in security architecture, and develop a security risk management plan.
- →Analyze candidate architectures, allocate security services, and select security mechanisms.
- →Provide recommendations for possible improvements and upgrades.
- →Act as a primary stakeholder in the underlying information technology (IT) operational processes and functions that support the service, provide direction and monitor all significant activities so the service is delivered successfully.
- →Provide advice on project costs, design concepts, or design changes.
