About the Role
This position is located in the Near Eastern Affairs Division (NEA), Office of Intelligence and Threat Analysis (ITA), Directorate of Threat Investigations and Analysis (TIA), Bureau of Diplomatic Security (DS). ITA serves as the Department's principal authority for all source intelligence analysis concerning threats of terrorism, political violence, and targeted crime against U.S. diplomatic missions, personnel, DS protected dignitaries and assets, and wider U.S. interests overseas.
What You'll Do
- →Provides direct supervision to subordinate staff and oversees the work, either directly or through GS-14 Team Leads, in a matrixed structure that includes civil service intelligence research and contract personnel.
- →Delivers authoritative analytical direction, enforces rigorous tradecraft standards, and guarantees the precision, objectivity, and operational relevance of ITA's threat assessment outputs.
- →Exercises final approval authority over all division products, including threat assessments, cables, responses to IC taskings, SETL ratings and specialized reports, ensuring compliance with timeliness, sourcing and alternative analysis requirements.
- →Directs the full spectrum of analytical activities, from basic descriptive reporting to current intelligence updates and forward-looking assessments that support DoS and DS decision making on protective security measures and resource allocation.
- →Develops and sustains professional networks across the Department, IC, federal law enforcement, and select non-governmental experts to enable rapid information exchange, joint analytic efforts, and validation of sensitive reporting.
