This position is located in the Information Technology Division (ITD) Infrastructure Management Branch of the Chief Administrative Office (CAO). The incumbent oversees the planning, installation, configuration, testing, implementation and management of the systems environment in support of the agency's IT architecture and business needs. The incumbent provides AOC-wide support for the network infrastructure, servers, and Tier-3 support for desktop, mobile and printer endpoints.
What You'll Do
- →The incumbent manages data centers and oversees disaster recovery and continuity of operations.
- →This position supports the Office of the Chief Information Officer, providing authoritative advice and recommendations regarding information technology (IT) throughout the agency.
- →Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret Security Clearance.
- →MAJOR DUTIES: Leadership and Managerial Responsibilities (50%) The incumbent serves as Chief of the Infrastructure Management Branch (IMB) and is responsible for managing AOC's information technology infrastructure.
- →As such, activities include the evaluation of new technologies, establishing standards, procedures and service-level agreements and providing a range of technical support services including requirements analysis, acquisition, installation, and people management.
- →The incumbent is also responsible for managing the IMB budget and expenses.
- →The incumbent's work has a direct, agency-wide impact on the availability, reliability, and resilience of the AOC's information technology infrastructure.
- →All mission operations depend on the continuous availability of the enterprise network, server, storage, and data center services managed by this position.
- →Decisions and actions taken by the incumbent directly affect AOC organizations' ability to perform core mission functions.
- →Infrastructure failures, security incidents, or prolonged outages would result in significant operational disruption, increased risk to agency operations, and potential impacts to safety, security, and continuity of government services.
- →The incumbent is therefore responsible for proactively identifying, mitigating, and managing infrastructure-related risks to ensure uninterrupted mission support.
- →Serves as the technical expert responsible for servers, data storage, and the local area network, including its design, implementation, troubleshooting, configuration and performance tuning.
- →Also provides expert knowledge and leadership in project management, problem management, knowledge management, and change management IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) practices.
- →IMB Branch Chief is responsible for overseeing ITIL processes related to infrastructure operations and establishing standards for change, incident, and problem management.
Requirements
- ✓. ***A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required for all positions at the GS-14 grade level and above at the Architect of the Capitol.
- ✓A degree in information technology or related field is preferred.*** You must show successful completion of a full course of study in an accredited college or university leading to a bachelor's degree or higher.
- ✓Education must be accredited by an accrediting institution recognized by the U.S.
- ✓Department of Education.
- ✓FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
- ✓You must show proof the education credentials have been deemed to be at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education program.
- ✓Transcripts must be submitted if selected.
- ✓You must be a U.S.
- ✓Your resume and question responses must demonstrate the job-related KSAs.
- ✓You must meet the definition of specialized experience.
- ✓You must possess a Bachelor's degree or higher.
