What You'll Do
- →Provide technical and administrative direction to Immigration Services Officers and support staff.
- →Assign, monitor, and evaluate performance of subordinate instructors and resolve issues presented by subordinates Participate in the development and implementation of short and long term program goals for the Academy Training Center and analyze any issues related to their implementation.
- →Manage or coordinate classroom activities by providing technical and program guidance to students and instructors in such areas as attendance, academic issues, scheduling, special accommodations, and ceremonies.
- →Instruct BASIC and advanced immigration courses.
Requirements
- ✓Conditions of Employment: You must be a U.S.
- ✓Citizen or U.S.
- ✓Residency Requirement: There is a residency requirement for all applicants not currently employed by U.S.
- ✓Citizenship and Immigration Services.
- ✓This residency requirement states that candidates must have, for three of the last five years immediately prior to applying for this position; (1) resided in the United States; OR (2) worked for the United States Government as an employee overseas in a Federal or Military capacity, OR (3) been a dependent of a U.S.
- ✓Federal or Military employee serving overseas.
- ✓Supervisory/Managerial Probationary Period: You may be required to serve a twelve-month probationary period upon appointment to this position.
- ✓You may also be required to complete an appropriate supervisory training course within one year of assignment to this position.
- ✓Relocation expenses are reimbursed through Permanent Change of Station (PCS) allowances in accordance with the Federal Travel Regulations (FTR).
- ✓Additionally, a financial relocation incentive in the form of a bi-weekly pay increase is available with a service agreement.
- ✓EDUCATIONAL SUBSTITUTION: There is no educational substitution at this grade level.
- ✓Training: Selected candidates are required to attend and successfully complete the USCIS Immigration Service Officer Basic (ISO BASIC) Training Program located with the USCIS Academy Training Center in Charleston, SC.
- ✓The ISO BASIC Training Program is approximately 6 weeks of academic instruction on the Immigration and Nationality Act, Code of Federal Regulations, and other immigration-related topics.
- ✓Failure to meet the minimum exam average by the end of the course is grounds for removal from the position.
