About the Role

This position is located in the Office of Deployment, Active Deployment for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Electronic Health Record Modernization Integration Office (EHRMIO), within the Office of the Deputy Secretary of VA (DEPSECVA), where the incumbent serves as a Supervisory Health System Specialist. This position will be physically located in a VA owned or leased office/space and require up to 75% official travel.

What You'll Do

  • Plans and organizes efforts-including deployment activities-that are aimed at achieving and improving the quality, effectiveness, and timeliness of program accomplishment.
  • Oversees and leads projects and deployment initiatives that are aimed at achieving and improving the quality, effectiveness, and timeliness of program accomplishment.
  • Develops detailed plans to improve efficient operations; implements plans, schedules, deployments, and initiatives to achieve mission and policy objectives.
  • Assesses program and deployment accomplishments and makes course corrections when necessary to maximize effectiveness.
  • Implements performance metrics to manage and monitor the operational efficiencies of the organization, including those related to deployment events and activities.
  • Manages the implementation and deployment team to provide guidance for and support of individual events or activities, and synchronizes scope, schedule, staff, space, and support tools during deployment operations.
  • Ensures that the team obtains, files, and stores artifacts associated with each deployment event or effort, such as activity documentation, agendas, attendee lists, and post-deployment assessments.
  • Persuades and leads others, including deployment team members and stakeholders, building consensus and gaining cooperation to obtain information and accomplish deployment goals.
  • Plans the work to be accomplished by the unit-including deployment-related tasks-assigns work to employees, and establishes production or quality standards for the unit's work.
  • Establishes and communicates guidelines and performance requirements to employees, including those specific to deployment duties and responsibilities.
  • Conducts formal performance reviews; identifies and provides for the developmental and training needs of employees, particularly as they relate to deployment readiness and execution.
  • Hears and resolves employee complaints.
  • Performs administrative and human resources management functions for the unit, including those associated with the deployment process.
  • Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm EST Compressed/Flexible: May be available Telework: This position may be authorized for telework.

  • There is no educational substitution at the grade level GS-15.
