What You'll Do
- →As a Supervisory Health Scientist, you will: Serve as the Director for the CDC Office of Public Health Ethics and Regulations (OPHER).
- →Serve as advising the OS Director, CIO Associate Directors and Deputy Directors for Science (ADS), CDC Director, Directors of the various CIOs, and other governmental and non-governmental agencies and departments about policy, research, and programmatic directions of the agency as they relate to scientific integrity activities.
- →Direct and manage the operations of the Office of Public Health Ethics and Regulations with primary responsibility for providing leadership and guidance for planning, managing, and evaluating the programs of the Office.
- →Maintain continuous crucial reviews of all policy and project objectives of the Office and ensure that overall program plans are carried out as efficiently and effectively as possible with maximum utilization of resources.
- →Provide oversight for scientific research compliance and protection activities on behalf of the Agency (e.g. human subjects research protections, public health ethics, and research information collections reviews).
Requirements
- ✓Due to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC's) process enhancement to use Shared Certificates throughout the Agency, some of the requirements below may differ: US Citizenship required.
- ✓Males born after December 31, 1959 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service (http://www.sss.gov).
- ✓May be subject to a Background/Security Investigation.
- ✓Security clearance level may differ from the position announced when certificates are shared.
- ✓CDC participates in the USCIS Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
- ✓If selected, CDC will determine your employment eligibility using your social security number.
- ✓Direct deposit is required.
- ✓One-year probationary period may be required.
- ✓This position may be subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- ✓Candidates must have demonstrated or shown the potential to develop the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- ✓A supervisory probationary period may be required.
- ✓Applicants should describe any previous experience or responsibilities which could be used in relation to the supervisory requirements of this position.
- ✓A copy of your transcripts or equivalent documentation is required for positions with an education requirement, or if you are qualifying based on education or a combination of education and experience.
